History
Chidorichō Station opened on 6 August 1926 as Keidai Ground-mae on the Ikegami Electric Railway, named for a nearby Keio University athletic field. It moved to its present location with double-tracking on 24 June 1927, an adjustment that prompted the closure of the nearby Kōmyōji Station. The station was renamed Chidorichō on 1 January 1936, after the contemporary place name Chidori-chō. Initially run only when university baseball games were held, it was later promoted to a regular stop. The crossover footbridge was removed and a Kamata-side ticket gate added on 30 November 2002. A "wood-themed" renovation began on 26 March 2025 and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.
