History

Honda Station opened on 20 January 1896 as Noda Station on the privately-owned Bōsō Railway in what is now Midori-ku, Chiba. The Bōsō Railway was nationalised on 1 September 1907, becoming part of the Japanese Government Railways and eventually Japan National Railways. The stop was renamed Honda Station on 1 December 1914, and freight operations were discontinued on 1 October 1962. Operation passed to JR East with the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, and a new elevated station building straddling the tracks was completed in March 2006. The station sits on the Sotobō Line, 12.6 km from the Chiba terminus, and some limited express Wakashio services from Tokyo call here.
