History

Banda Station opened on 29 April 1931 as Kamimizo Station on the privately operated Sagami Railway between Atsugi and Hashimoto. Nationalisation on 1 June 1944 folded the line into the Sagami Line, and the station was renamed Banda the same day. Freight handling ended on 10 October 1962 and parcel handling on 1 February 1984, and the station passed to JR East at privatisation on 1 April 1987. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001. The aged wooden station building was replaced between September 2017 and May 2018, and on 13 March 2016 the station became unstaffed under remote management from Hashimoto, with Customer Support Call System service. Banda has a single island platform.

Notes

A platform-side siding still holds maintenance vehicles, and the 2013 fiscal year saw two elevators installed at the station to complete accessibility upgrades.
