History
Shimo-Ichida Station opened on 18 March 1923 as part of the Iida Line, located in what is now the town of Takamori in Nagano Prefecture's Shimoina District. The station passed to JR Central with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. A new station building replaced the older structure in February 2009. The unattended stop has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track 135.6 kilometres from the line's southern terminus at Toyohashi, and recorded an average of 62 boarding passengers per day in fiscal 2016.
