History

Minoshi Station opened on 5 October 1923 as Minomachi Station, the terminus of the Ministry of Railways' Etsumi-Nan Line extension from Mino-Ōta. The line was pushed on to Itadoriguchi (now Yu-no-tō-Onsenguchi) in July 1926, making the station a through stop. It took its present name on 10 November 1954, lost freight handling in 1974, and shed parcel handling in 1984. Operations transferred from JNR to the third-sector Nagaragawa Railway on 11 December 1986. The wooden station building and the platform's adjoining waiting shelter were listed on Japan's Register of Tangible Cultural Properties on 24 December 2013. The ticket window is scheduled to close on 30 March 2026, with the station becoming fully unstaffed the following day.
