History
Nakamachidai Station opened on 18 March 1993 with the extension of the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line (Line 3) between Shin-Yokohama and Azamino. During construction the station was provisionally called "Ōkuma," the name of the area's old village. Platform-edge doors were installed and put into service on 14 April 2007. With the timetable change of 18 July 2015 the station was added to the new Rapid (Kaisoku) service stop list, since trains north of Niiha to Azamino call at every station.

Notes
Nakamachidai sits at the eastern edge of the second town-center district of the Kōhoku New Town, with a station-front plaza on the west side and a European-styled ground-floor façade designed to harmonize with the surrounding redevelopment. The station is frequently used as a location for Japanese television dramas, including Otoko no Kosodate, 14-sai no Haha, Onikō Nikki, and Watashi no Kaseifu Nagisa-san.
