History

Yogo Station opened on 1 October 1957 with the realigned Hokuriku Main Line section between Kinomoto and Tsuruga. Parcel handling was withdrawn in March 1971, at which point the station became unstaffed. Operations passed to JR West with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The Tsuruga - Nagahama DC electrification project, completed on 21 October 2006, brought Special Rapid services and ICOCA support; the platform was also raised at that time. Station numbering arrived in March 2018 with the assignment JR-A04. The station has a single island platform with two tracks reached from the station building by a level crossing rather than a footbridge, giving step-free access.

Notes

Step-free access between the station building and platform is achieved via a track-level pedestrian crossing rather than a footbridge or underpass, an unusual configuration for an electrified main-line station.
