History
Kamoi Station opened on 25 December 1962 as a Japanese National Railways station on the Yokohama Line. With JNR's dissolution and privatisation on 1 April 1987, the station passed to JR East. Automated turnstiles arrived on 3 August 1995, and a new bridge-style station building with a north–south free passage was completed in November 1998, replacing the original south-side building that had been linked to platforms only by a 1960s footbridge inconvenient to north-side users. Suica IC gates went live on 18 November 2001. Station numbering JH18 was introduced on 20 August 2016, and smart platform screen doors began operating on 14 October 2025.
