History

Takanomiya Station opened on 5 April 1928 as a stop on what is now the Kita-Matsue Line of the Ichibata Electric Railway, located in the city of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. The station was made unstaffed in November 1979, and on 1 April 2006 it passed from Ichibata Electric Railway to a newly established operating subsidiary, Ichibata Electric Railway Co., Ltd., when the parent company transitioned to a holding-company structure. The stop, numbered 16, lies 22.5 km from the line’s terminus at Dentetsu-Izumoshi and consists of a single side platform serving one bidirectional track; only local trains call here.
