History

Tsunomori Station opened on 5 April 1928 on what is now the Ichibata Electric Railway’s Kita-Matsue Line in the city of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. Its station building was rebuilt on 17 May 1995 in a design evoking a traditional sake brewery, a motif shared with Aikamachi Station further along the line. On 1 April 2006 it passed from Ichibata Electric Railway to a newly established operating subsidiary when the parent firm transitioned to a holding-company structure, and the station became unstaffed throughout the day from 1 April 2016. The stop, numbered 15, lies 21.2 km from Dentetsu-Izumoshi and has a single island platform serving two tracks, connected to the station building by a level crossing on its west side.

Notes

The 1995 station building, with its wooden single-storey sake-brewery silhouette, shares its design with Aikamachi Station further along the same line.
