History
Nogi Station opened on 10 April 1937 as a passenger-only stop between Matsue and Yumachi (now Tamatsukuri-Onsen) on the Ministry of Railways San'in Main Line. Parcel handling was discontinued on 14 March 1985. With the privatization of the Japan National Railway on 1 April 1987, the station came under JR West. ICOCA service began on 17 December 2016 via simplified IC-only gates. The station was destaffed on 1 April 2022. The wooden station building sits on the platform-1 side; the layout is two opposed side platforms (2 platforms, 2 tracks) configured as a single-track-through with platform 1 designated as the up-down main, so passing and non-meeting stopping trains both use platform 1.
