History

The station opened on 1 April 1929 as Shin-Chogo Station with the inauguration of the Odakyu Enoshima Line, and freight handling was added on 27 November 1944. After local-train all-line service began in June 1945, it became a semi-express stop on 1 October 1946, a commuter-express stop on 25 March 1955, and an express stop in October 1961. The name changed to Chogo Station on 1 April 1958 after both Shimo-Tsuchidana and Chogo became Fujisawa City wards. Freight ended on 6 November 1966. The west-side plaza was completed in 2013, and roof reinforcement followed a partial collapse in 2018.

Notes

The Yokohama Municipal Subway was originally planned to terminate at Chogo, but local merchants' opposition in the 1970s diverted the line to Shonandai, after which Chogo's daytime express stops were dropped in 2002.
