History
Kamiooka Station opened on 1 April 1930 as a Shonan Electric Railway (now Keikyu) stop. Passing loops entered service on 15 December 1951, and the original Keihin Department Store building was completed on 12 April 1963. The Yokohama Municipal Subway connected on 16 December 1972. A new mixed-use building 'Yume Ooka' opened on 1 October 1996 housing Keikyu Department Store, with Keikyu's elevated platforms following in May and June 1997. Platform-edge doors were installed on the subway side in July 2007 and on the Keikyu side in late 2019 and early 2020. The station is one of Yokohama's designated sub-centres.

Notes
Yuzu's hit song 'Natsuiro' has served as the Keikyu platform approach melody since 25 November 2008; the duo grew up in nearby Okamura, also in Isogo Ward.
