History
Shimoiida Station opened on 29 August 1999 with the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line extension from Totsuka to Shonandai. The station's planning name was retained as its official name, in contrast to neighbouring Yumegaoka which used a different formal name. ATO automated train operation began on 20 January 2007 and platform-edge doors followed on 15 September 2007. Originally bordered by farmland in a long-protected greenbelt, the surroundings were re-zoned for development in 2014; the address was changed from Shimoiida-cho to Yumegaoka on 2 September 2024 following land-readjustment work tied to the Yumegaoka Soratos commercial complex.
