History

Maioka Station opened on 14 March 1985 as the southern terminus of the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line when service was extended from Kaminagaya. Because difficult conditions delayed completion of the Totsuka section, single-track shuttle operation was used between Kaminagaya and Maioka for two years. The station became an intermediate stop on 24 May 1987 when the line was extended to Totsuka. Platform screen doors entered service on 4 August 2007, and docomo Wi-Fi public wireless began on 1 May 2012. The underground station sits beneath the Maioka River in Yokohama's Totsuka Ward.

Notes

Maioka's daily ridership of about 5,000 passengers in fiscal 2020 made it the least-used station on the entire Yokohama Municipal Subway network, across both the Blue and Green lines.
