History
Kaminagaya Station opened on 4 September 1976 as the southern terminus of the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line's extension from Kamiooka. The Blue Line was extended further south to Maioka on 14 March 1985, demoting Kaminagaya to an intermediate station. An elevator entered service on 30 March 1998. A pedestrian deck connecting the north exit to an adjacent residential complex opened on 16 March 2007, and platform-edge doors followed on 21 July 2007. From the 18 July 2015 timetable revision the station became one of the stops served by the newly introduced rapid service.

Notes
Kaminagaya is the only elevated station on the original Blue Line; an adjacent depot also makes it the highest-ridership Blue Line stop without any interchange to another line.
