History
Konan-Chuo Station opened on 4 September 1976 as part of the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line's first extension from Kaminagaya. The planning name had been Sasage Station, after the area's original Sasage-cho district, but the post-1972 administrative ward name 'Konan-Chuo-dori' was adopted at opening to mark the area as Konan Ward's civic centre. Operation was outsourced to Keio Setsubi Service on 1 December 2004 and platform-edge doors were activated on 7 July 2007. A solar panel installation on the No. 2 exit was added during the renovations. A small gate-side shop sells goods made by Yokohama Prison's CAPIC programme alongside local workshop products.
