History
Ginan Station opened on 2 June 1914 as Sakaigawa Station roughly 150 metres north of its present location, with platforms initially long enough for only two cars. The station became unstaffed before 1 November 1948 and was rebuilt and renamed Ginan Station upon relocation on 20 September 1980, when the down passing siding was added and semi-express service began calling. An up passing siding followed on 22 November 1992. The station became part of Meitetsu's cluster management system on 14 December 2005, and Manaca IC card service started on 11 February 2011.

Notes
Ginan is the only station between Shin-Kisogawa and Meitetsu Gifu where Meitetsu trains can pass one another, using express tracks that run through the middle of the platform layout.
