History

Torihama Station opened on 5 July 1989 with the inauguration of the Kanazawa Seaside Line between Shin-Sugita and Kanazawa-Hakkei. The line is operated by the Yokohama New Transit Company (now Yokohama Seaside Line). The station is an elevated structure with a single island platform serving two tracks, and the building below is unstaffed. Automatic ticket machines and automated turnstiles are installed; the ticket machines were renewed and brought into service on 23 March 2005. The station carries the secondary name 'Mitsui Outlet Park Yokohama Bayside Mae' in reference to the large outlet shopping centre directly outside.

Notes

Torihama's secondary name credits the directly adjacent Mitsui Outlet Park Yokohama Bayside, one of the largest factory-outlet developments served by the Seaside Line.
