History

Nishi-Kasamatsu Station is on Meitetsu's Takehana Line in Kasamatsu, Gifu, 0.9 km from the line's terminus at Kasamatsu. It opened on 2 June 1914 as Kasamatsu-guchi Station on the Mino Electric Railway's Kasamatsu Line. The Takehana Railway opened its own provisional Shin-Kasamatsu Station at the site on 25 June 1921, and from September 1921 the two railways shared the station as Kasamatsu. The stop assumed its current name in May 1936, after another Kasamatsu Station nearby was reassigned to a different operator. In March 1943 the Takehana Railway was absorbed into Meitetsu. Freight handling ceased in fiscal 1965, and the station was destaffed on 1 June 1998.

Notes

The station has carried multiple names since its 1914 opening as Kasamatsu-guchi: it became Kasamatsu in 1916 under the Mino Electric Railway, was jointly shared with the Takehana Railway's Shin-Kasamatsu from 1921, and finally became Nishi-Kasamatsu in 1936.
