History
Hanashiro-Onsen Station opened on 15 November 1967 as Hanashiro Station (花白駅) on the JNR Akechi Line, an unstaffed passenger halt. On 16 November 1985 the line was transferred to the third-sector Akechi Railway. The station was renamed Hanashiro-Onsen on 12 March 2011 to highlight the adjacent hot-spring bathing facility, and on 17 March 2012 it was added as a stop on the Akechi Railway's express "Taishō Roman-go." The station carries number 4.

Notes
The station is named for the "Hanashiro no Yu" hot-spring bathhouse that sits directly in front of the platform. Despite the renaming in 2011, the in-car automatic announcement on Akechi Railway trains continued to call the stop simply "Hanashiro" — as confirmed as late as December 2016. There are several residences nearby but no shops, and National Route 363 passes close by; the historic Mansyō-ji temple of Iitaka Kannon also lies within walking distance.
