History
Kimitsu Station is on the JR East Uchibō Line in Kimitsu, Chiba, 38.3 km from the line's starting point at Soga. It opened on 15 January 1915 as Susai Station on the Japanese Government Railways' Kisarazu Line. The line was renamed Hōjō in May 1919, Bōsō in April 1929, Bōsō-nishi in April 1933, and finally Uchibō from 15 July 1972. The station took the name Kimitsu on 10 April 1956. The Kisarazu - Chikura section was electrified in July 1969, the Kisarazu - Kimitsu segment double-tracked in March 1970, and the present overhead concourse station building completed on 11 October 1973. Operation passed to JR East at JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987.

Despite their names, neither Kimitsu Commercial High School (in Futtsu, nearest station Ōnuki) nor Kimitsu Central Hospital (in Kisarazu) are physically located in Kimitsu City - both reference the historic Kimitsu County.
