History
Hon-Kugenuma Station opened on 1 April 1929 with the inauguration of the Odakyū Enoshima Line, in what is today the city of Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. It originally served as a stop for the line's "Chokutsū" through-services from Shinjuku. Single-track wartime operations in 1943 forced through services to be suspended, with double-tracking restored between Fujisawa and Hon-Kugenuma in October 1946 and onward to Katase-Enoshima in April 1949. Platforms were extended in August 1998 to accept ten-car express trains, though all but the early-morning up express were removed from the stopping list on 17 March 2018, leaving only local services today.
