History

Imaise Station opened on 29 April 1935 on the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, in what is now the city of Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture. The station was relocated within the same town on 5 October 1952 and de-staffed on 22 February 1967. A footbridge entered service on 24 March 1987 with broader renovations finished on 30 March 1987 including platform canopies on both sides. Transpass and station-management automation were installed on 15 March 2005, the Manaca IC card became usable on 11 February 2011, and Transpass was withdrawn on 29 February 2012. Platform improvement works completed on 28 February 2018. The Tokoname-bound platform sits awkwardly close to the parallel JR Tōkaidō Main Line, which gives trains crossing it a notable side-wind effect.

Notes

Many of the truss-frame overhead-line gantries between Imaise and Meitetsu Gifu — originally installed in 1935 for the launch of Nagoya–Gifu limited-express services — are still in service today.
