History

Inaba-Yashiro Station opened on 5 June 1923 when the Railway Ministry extended the Inbi Line from Mochigase to Chizu; the local-administrative description at the time was Yashiro Village in Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture. On 15 March 1928, with the opening of the Inbi South Line, the original line was renamed the Inbi North Line and the station transferred to it. On 1 July 1932 the full Tottori - Tsuyama route opened and the Inbi North Line became part of the present-day Inbi Line. Freight handling was abolished on 1 September 1962, parcel handling ended and the station became unstaffed on 1 October 1970, after which a simple-commission arrangement was adopted. On 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR West with the privatisation of JNR. The municipal mergers of 1 November 2004 made it part of the new Tottori City.

Notes

Inaba-Yashiro is a ground-level halt (stop) with a single side platform on the left-hand side facing Chizu. Previously it had two opposed side platforms and two tracks, but one of the tracks (track 2) was removed and the remaining platform 1 is now shared by both Chizu-bound and Tottori-bound trains. The station retains a wooden station building, and is administered as an unstaffed station under the Tottori Railway Office.
