History
Takatsu Station opened on 12 February 1958 as an intermediate halt on the San'in Main Line between Ayabe and Isa, run by Japanese National Railways (JNR) and serving only passengers. The station consists of two opposed side platforms without any building, classified as a stop rather than a station because it lacks turnouts and absolute signals. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station passed to the West Japan Railway Company (JR West). It was placed under the Maizuru Railway Department in 1991, returned to direct Fukuchiyama oversight in 2006, and reorganized under the Kinki Statutory Headquarters' Fukuchiyama Management Division in October 2022.
