History

Kariyasuka Station opened on 24 January 1900 as a stop on the privately operated Bisai Railroad, running through what is now Ichinomiya in Aichi Prefecture. The line was acquired by Meitetsu on 1 August 1925 and became the Meitetsu Bisai Line, with Kariyasuka serving as a limited-express stop in the late 1960s before being downgraded — first to semi-express in 1969 and then to local-only in 1970. The station was destaffed in 1995, integrated into the Tranpass automated fare system in December 2007, and added Manaca IC-card readers on 11 February 2011 before Tranpass was retired in 2012.

Notes

Plans to elevate the Bisai Line through Kariyasuka were originally targeted at FY2024 but were pushed to FY2030, after which the passing loop will be relocated to neighbouring Kannonji Station.
