History

Manai Station opened on 11 February 1931 on the Meitetsu Komaki Line at the Kasugai–Komaki city boundary in Aichi Prefecture. Wartime austerity forced its closure around 1944, and the stop was reactivated on 24 November 1947 as an unstaffed station. From 1962 a contracted station-keeper handled limited duties until that arrangement ended on 1 January 1992 and the stop returned to unstaffed operation. The section between Komakiguchi and Manai was elevated in 2004, after which a second station building was added on the Inuyama-bound side. Manaca IC card service began on 11 February 2011, and the stop carries Meitetsu number KM08.

Notes

A car-base land parcel south of the station, prepared for Komaki-Line stabling once the Kamiiida Connecting Line opened, was abandoned mid-build when demand fell short of forecasts and remains today as a single-track materials yard.
