History

Wachi Station serves the JR West San'in Main Line in the town of Kyōtamba, Funai District, Kyoto Prefecture, 58.6 kilometres from the line terminus at Kyoto. It opened on 25 August 1910 and passed to JR West at the 1987 JNR privatisation. The staffed station has one ground-level side platform plus one island platform connected to the station building by a footbridge. The surrounding area sits along the Yura River near Japan National Route 27 and is anchored by the Kyōtamba Town Hall Wachi Branch, the former Wachi town offices. In fiscal 2016 the station averaged 338 daily passengers.

Notes

The station building still serves as a staffed stop on a rural stretch of the San'in Main Line where most neighbouring halts are unattended.
