History

Rokuwa Station opened on 17 February 1899 as a station on the privately held Bisai Railroad, which was purchased by Meitetsu on 1 August 1925 and folded into the Meitetsu Bisai Line. Freight handling ended in fiscal 1967, and the station passed through several promotions and demotions in the 1968–1977 period — limited-express stop in 1968, semi-express in 1969, local-only in 1970, limited-express again in 1974, express in 1975, and local-only from 1977. It has been unattended since 1 May 1983. The Tranpass magnetic-fare system arrived on 14 March 2008, and Manaca IC ticketing started on 11 February 2011.

Notes

Before the 1959 Isewan Typhoon the area around Rokuwa was famous for udo and fuki cultivation, and freight wagons were loaded with these vegetables at the station for shipment elsewhere.
