History
Yada Station opened on 2 April 1905 as the original terminus of the Seto Line (today the Meitetsu Seto Line); delays to the Yada-gawa bridging works meant the original stop was located elsewhere. The station was unstaffed for many decades. With the opening of Nagoya Dome in 1997 Yada became its closest railway station, prompting installation of a prefabricated station building and extra signage; rapid and semi-express services made temporary stops on event days. After the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijō Line and Yutorito-line guided-bus opened the Nagoyadome-mae-Yada station, Yada lost that distinction. The Owari-Seto-side building was rebuilt slightly to the east on 1 March 2004 due to highway works, and a remote-monitoring control system together with Transpas and automatic ticket gates was introduced in 2006.
