History

Eiwa Station's site began service on 1 June 1927 as the Danta Signal Stop on the Japanese Government Railways' Kansai Line, in what is now the city of Aisai, Aichi Prefecture. It was upgraded to a full passenger station on 1 February 1929 and named Eiwa. After Japanese National Railways succeeded the JGR following the Second World War, freight operations were discontinued on 15 October 1950. Privatisation on 1 April 1987 placed the station under JR Central, and automatic ticket gates accepting the TOICA IC-card were installed on 25 November 2006. With the introduction of station numbering on the JR Central section of the Kansai Main Line in March 2018, Eiwa was assigned CJ04.

Notes

Three tracks pass between the side platforms — the middle line is non-electrified and reserved for freight traffic, an unusual layout for a station this size on the Kansai Main Line.
