History

Jukkokutōge-Sanroku Station is the lower terminus of the Jukkoku Cablecar Line in Kannami, Tagata District, Shizuoka. The line opened on 16 October 1956 under Sunzu Railway (renamed Izuhakone Railway in 1957) and was branded the "Jukkokutōge Cablecar". Originally called Jukkoku-Noboriguchi Station, it was renamed Jukkokutōge-Sanroku Station on 5 November 2022 after Izuhakone Railway spun the funicular off into a new operator, Jukkokutōge Co., Ltd., in December 2021, with ownership later passing to the Fuji-Kyu Group in February 2022. The 0.3 km standard-gauge line connects with Jukkokutōge-Sanchō at the summit, a vertical separation of 101 m.

Notes

After Nose Electric Railway closed its Myōken-no-Mori cableway on 4 December 2023, the Jukkoku Cablecar — which served Jukkoku-Noboriguchi (now Jukkokutōge-Sanroku) Station — became the only standard-gauge funicular still operating in Japan; in Shizuoka only the Tōkaidō Shinkansen also uses 1,435 mm gauge.
