History

Jukkokutōge-Sanchō Station is the upper terminus of the Jukkoku Cablecar Line, sitting at the summit of 766 m Mt. Higane on the boundary of Kannami in Shizuoka and Atami. The funicular opened on 16 October 1956 under Sunzu Railway, was operated by Izuhakone Railway from 1957, and was spun off into Jukkokutōge Co., Ltd. on 1 December 2021 before passing to the Fuji-Kyu Group in February 2022. The station and its summit lookout were renovated in August 2022, and on 5 November 2022 the station was renamed from Jukkokutōge Station to Jukkokutōge-Sanchō Station, with the line rebranded the "Jukkokutōge Panorama Cablecar". A slopecar replacement is planned for summer 2027.
