History
Kōhoku Station opened on 6 October 2004 with the rest of the Aonami Line, originally named Nagoya Keibajō-mae after the adjacent Nagoya Racecourse. The provisional working title during planning was Nagoya Keibajō Station, and the opening name was settled in March 2003. When the racecourse moved to Yatomi in March 2022, the station was renamed Kōhoku, the first such change on the Aonami Line; the decision followed consultations with academics and residents and aligned with the city's plan to redevelop the racecourse site under the Kōhoku Area branding. From 1 September 2022 the station, alongside Arakogawa-kōen, became permanently unstaffed.

Notes
Despite being the third-busiest Aonami Line station, with more daily passengers than staffed Nakajima just to the north, the station no longer has its own attendant.
