History
Tōkai-dōri Station opened on March 29, 1971 as a station on Nagoya Municipal Subway Line 2 (then Meijō Line). The 2004 reorganisation that opened the Nagoya University - Aratamabashi section transferred this segment to the Meikō Line, and the station took station number E04. Platform screen doors entered service on June 15, 2020. The station has two opposed side platforms underground, with a maintenance base and emergency crossover located on the Nagoyakō side.
