History
Kannami Station opened on December 1, 1934 when the section of the Tōkaidō Main Line between Atami and Numazu via the Tanna Tunnel was completed. Regularly scheduled freight handling ended in 1971, and TOICA automated turnstiles were installed in 2008. The station has a single island platform serving Track 1 and Track 2, both on passing loops with through tracks outside for express passing. The staffed station building contains automatic ticket machines and TOICA turnstiles. Station numbering for the JR Central portion of the Tōkaidō Line was introduced in March 2018, when Kannami took station number CA01.
