History
Aikan-Umetsubo Station opened on 1 March 2005 on the Aichi Loop Line in Higashi-Umetsubo-chō, Toyota. It was built as a petitioned station alongside Kaizu Station, prompted by population growth in the area and the opening of Expo 2005; the combined cost of about 1.187 billion yen was borne by the city of Toyota. The "Aikan" prefix (a contraction of the operator's name) was added to distinguish it from the nearby Meitetsu Mikawa and Toyota Line station at Umetsubo, located about 600 metres to the south. The station is elevated with a single platform serving one track, with provision for a future second track, and accepted TOICA contactless tickets from 2 March 2019.

Notes
The viaduct was built with provision for a second platform and track on its east side, so the single-track stop can be expanded into a two-platform layout in the future without further civil engineering work.
