History
Umetsubo Station opened on 26 October 1923 as a station on the Mikawa Railway, in present-day Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. It passed to Meitetsu in 1941 with the absorption of Mikawa Railway, and freight handling ended in December 1977. On 26 March 1979 the station was relocated 0.2 km toward Toyotashi as part of elevation works, and the new Toyota Line (now the Toyota Line) opened in July of the same year, sharing the station with the Mikawa Line. Doubling of the Umetsubo–Toyotashi section followed in October 1986. Tranpass service and centralised remote management began in October 2003, accompanied by destaffing, and IC card travel using manaca began on 11 February 2011.
