History

Shin-Toyota Station opened on 26 April 1976 as the terminus of the Japan National Railways Okata Line, a short branch running from Okazaki. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station briefly came under JR Central before being transferred to the third-sector Aichi Loop Railway on 31 January 1988, when the company linked Okazaki with Kōzōji via Toyota and turned the through route into the Aichi Loop Line. The station building was rebuilt in 1991, and platform-edge upgrades plus accessibility improvements followed, including TOICA support from March 2019.

Notes

The station's automatic ticket gates, installed in autumn 1994, were the first ever fitted at a third-sector operator converted from a JNR specified-local line.
