History

Hayase Station is a single-platform JR Central halt on the Iida Line in Tenryū-ku, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, 58.5 km from the line's origin at Toyohashi. It was opened on 1935-05-10 as the Hayase halt on the Sanshin Railway, between Urakawa and Shimokawai. When the Sanshin Railway was nationalised on 1943-08-01 to form the Iida Line the halt was abolished, and a Hayase Station was re-established by the Ministry of Transportation on 1946-12-01, initially with passenger restrictions that were lifted on 1952-12-02. It passed to JR Central at the 1987 JNR breakup. The station consists of one ground-level side platform with no station building and is unattended, managed from Chūbu-Tenryū.
