History

Kuromatsu Station opened on 25 November 1918 when the Railway Board extended the San'in Main Line between Nima and Asari, in Kuromatsu-chō, Gōtsu, Shimane. Freight handling ended on 23 September 1961. The station's operations were contracted out on 20 June 1977 and it was destaffed on 14 March 1985. At JNR privatisation on 1 April 1987 it became a JR West station and was re-staffed at the same time, but was unstaffed once again on 10 March 1990. The original station building has since been demolished; today passengers reach the island platform directly via a railway-side level crossing on the Masuda side.
