History

Nirayama Station opened on 5 August 1900 as Hōjō Station on what is today the Izuhakone Railway Sunzu Line, in present-day Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture. The station was renamed Nirayama on 25 May 1919. Season-ticket sales at the ticket window ended on 1 October 2015 alongside a shortened staffed window of 06:45 to 21:45, and from 1 October 2019 the ticket window closed entirely and staffing was further trimmed to a single morning shift between 07:00 and 08:30. The station has two opposed platforms linked by an internal level crossing, with the station building facing platform two.
