History

Ise-Asahi Station opened on 30 January 1929 as Asahi Station, a stop on Ise Electric Railway's Yokkaichi–Kuwana segment in what is now the town of Asahi, Mie Prefecture. Ise Electric was absorbed by Sangū Express Electric Railway on 15 September 1936, becoming part of its Nagoya-Ise Main Line. Following Osaka Electric Tramway's takeover on 15 March 1941 the route became the Nagoya Line of Kansai Express Railway, and a merger with Nankai Electric Railway on 1 June 1944 formed Kintetsu, the current operator. The station was renamed Ise-Asahi at an unrecorded later date. Automated turnstiles were installed on 8 August 2006 and PiTaPa IC-card service began on 1 April 2007.

Notes

Ise-Asahi is the only station on the Kintetsu Nagoya Line with no internal connection between its two platforms — passengers must enter from the relevant side via the Nagoya-side gate.
