History
Asari Station opened on 25 November 1918 as the temporary terminus of the Imperial Railway Department's San'in Main Line, when the line was extended from Niima. It became a through station on 25 December 1920 with the further extension to Tsunozu. Freight handling ended on 21 July 1975 and luggage handling on 14 March 1985, when the station was destaffed. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it came under West Japan Railway Company (JR West), briefly regaining staff. From 13 December 1993 a branch of San'in Gōdō Bank operated inside the wooden station building, closing in September 2020. The station serves Gōtsu in Shimane Prefecture and consists of a single side platform after the second track was lifted.

Notes
From 1993 until 2020, the wooden station building's office space was used as a branch of San'in Gōdō Bank, sharing the structure with the unstaffed platform entrance.
