History

Tokiwa Station (Randen station number B2) opened on 10 March 1926 when the Arashiyama Electric Railway Kitano Line, then operated by Kyoto Dentō, was extended from Takao-guchi (today's Utano Station) to Katabiranotsuji. On 2 March 1942 the line passed to Keifuku Electric Railroad. The station name is said to derive from Minamoto no Tsune, who maintained a villa here.

Notes

Tokiwa's "Randen-kaiwai-kan" photo panel is captioned "Tokiwa" but actually depicts a train running on the section between Narutaki and Utano, two stops further south.
