History

Satsueisho-mae Station opened on 1 April 2016 as a new infill stop on the Keifuku Electric Railroad (Randen) Kitano Line between Katabiranotsuji and Tokiwa, intended to improve transfers to JR West's Uzumasa Station on the San'in Main Line (Sagano Line). The station name was officially decided on 11 December 2015 and was chosen because the surrounding Uzumasa district hosts the Toei Kyoto Studio — successor to the Bantsuma Productions company founded in the same year that the Kitano Line first opened. The opening marked the first new Keifuku tram stop since Randen-Tenjingawa in 2008.

Notes

The station was designed barrier-free from the outset, with no step between tram floor and platform. Because of the new stop, the line designator B1 — previously assigned to Katabiranotsuji — was reassigned to Satsueisho-mae.
