History
Zezehommachi Station opened on 1 March 1913 as Zeze Station (膳所駅) when the Ōtsu Electric Tramway extended from Ōtsu (today's Biwako-Hamaōtsu) to this point; a further extension to Beppō (today's Awazu) followed two months later. Successive mergers transferred the stop to Biwako Tetsudō Kisen in 1927 and to Keihan Electric Railway in 1929, placing it on the line that was renamed the Ishiyama Sakamoto Line in 1936. The station was renamed Zezehommachi on 20 August 1937. After the 1943 wartime merger into Keihanshin Kyūkō, Keihan was re-separated in 1949 and the station reverted to its current operator. It carries station number OT07 and lies 3.8 km from Ishiyamadera.
