History

Kamitobaguchi Station opened on 5 April 1940 as a station on the Nara Electric Railroad between Jūjō and Takeda, originally as a ground-level side-platform stop. The Nara Electric Railroad merged into Kintetsu on 1 October 1963, bringing the station under Kintetsu Kyoto Line operation. The downbound platform was elevated on 3 October 1998 in connection with the continuous grade-separation of the Takeda-Tōji section, and the upbound platform followed on 27 November 1999, when the station was expanded to four tracks with a new passing loop. PiTaPa IC ticketing began on 1 April 2007. The station carries the line number B04 and in fiscal 2023 handled about 7,577 boarding passengers daily.

Notes

The crossover west of the platforms uses Kintetsu's only swing-nose movable-frog turnout; every other turnout in the Kintetsu network is fixed-frog.
