History
Mikawa Takahama Station opened on 20 April 1918 on the privately operated Mikawa Railway, which became part of the Meitetsu group on 1 June 1941. A new ground-level building replaced the original on 25 August 1957, and freight services were withdrawn on 25 May 1977. The station was completely rebuilt as an elevated structure on 25 December 1994, after which trains began running on the left-hand track in the Japanese convention. Centralised management made the stop unstaffed in August 2005, and Manaca smart-card gates followed in February 2011.

Notes
Locals and Meitetsu staff have nicknamed the station "Santaka" since at least the 1950s — a contraction so settled that passengers used to request tickets by that name at the booking window.
